About College

Bangurnagar Arts, Science and Commerce College, Dandeli is one of the premier educational institutions in North Karnataka. Born as an offshoot with a sense of social obligation of one of the largest Paper Mills in India, West Coast Paper Mills Ltd., Dandeli in 1974, the college has served the cause of education in this hilly, tribal and largely backward region for the last four decades and more. The college affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwad, is recognized under Sections 2F and 12B of the UGC Act. The college, though placed in a remote corner of the state has managed to carve a niche for itself, not only in the affiliating Karnatak University area and at the State Level but also at the National Level in the last more than four decades of its existence. The college offers UG programme in Science, Arts, Commerce and Pulp and Paper Science. Recently the institution has introduced P.G. Programmes M.Sc.in General Chemistry in Science stream and M.Com a P.G. course in Commerce stream.

A Unique distinction of the institution is being Industry –Academia interaction for mutual benefits, which can be exemplified by the fact of having a Unique UG course in Pulp and Paper Science which is producing required man power for Pulp and Paper Industry throughout the country. The strength of the institution is Visionary, Proactive and Supportive Management motivated by Principal, Teaching Staff and Supporting Staff committed to the Goals of the institution. The college has good infra-structure and green campus having the right ambience for study and research. The institution has very strong alumni support with very good performance in University Examinations. The participatory corporate governance with quality conscious, cost conscious is creating a sense of belongingness and accountability among different stake holders.

The college was one of the earliest colleges in Karnataka to be assessed by an external quality assurance agency, NAAC, even when the accreditation was purely voluntary. The college was accredited at 4 Star Level in the first assessment and with B++ grade in the II cycle and B Grade with CGPA 2.79 in the III cycle Reaccreditation
