BACHELOR OF APPLIED SCIENCE (PULP AND PAPER) (B.A.SC.):

Four Year Bachelor of Applied Science (Pulp and Paper) Degree Non-Semester Self–Financing Degree Course starting in the year of 1978. This is a unique course of Bachelor of Applied Science with specialization in Pulp and Paper Technology. It is the only one of its kind in South East Asia and the graduates of this course are in good demand in Paper Industry in India and abroad.Started in 1978 with a 3 ½ year duration the course was up-graded in 1989 to 4 years thus putting it on par with other Technology and Engineering professional courses.So far over 400 graduates of this course have already made their mark in the paper industry in India and abroad.Experienced and highly qualified faculty, excellent library and Laboratory facilities give the students all the necessary skills and training to work in responsible positions in the Paper and allied Industries.

Frequent training / visits to the Paper Mills and in-plant training programmes form a part of the curriculum. In addition, the students also have free access to the well-stocked library and sophisticated equipment’s available at the West Coast Paper Mill’s Research Centre.

Compulsory Industrial training for four months, study tour, report writing on a specific project and attendance at Seminars and lectures by visiting experts form a part of the course content in order to qualify for the Degree.The Course Syllabus updated from the last year. And highlights of the new syllabus are C++, cad drawing, machine drawing, Quality Management Systems (QMS), Printing and packaging, electronics etc.

The Pulp and Paper Association (PPA) Dandeli:The P. P. A. is a technical association of the past and present students of the Pulp and Paper Science and faculty members of B.N. Degree College. The Association aims to further the cause of Paper Industry by organizing Lectures and Seminars related to the developments in Paper Industry. All students admitted to the 4-year degree course in pulp and paper science are eligible for membership of the P.P.A.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 1st Semester of the 6 – Semester B.A./B.Com./ Degree Courses
Candidates must have passed 2 – year P.U.C. Examination of the Pre-University Education Board, Bangalore or an Equivalent Examination.

1st Semester of the 6 – Semester B.Sc. Degree Course
Candidates must have passed the 2 Year P.U.C. Examination of the Pre – University Education Board, Bangalore or an equivalent examination with English and at least 3 Science Subjects.

B.A.Sc. Degree Course (Pulp and Paper Science):
Candidates must have passed the 2 year P.U.C. Examination of the Pre – University Education Board, Bangalore or an equivalent examination with English as one of the subjects and a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They must also pass the Entrance / Viva Voce Tests conducted by the college. The date of Entrance test will be notified by the college.


ADMISSION PROCEDURE: Admissions to 2nd and 3rd year of the Degree Courses are made on the basis of the performance of the previous year with the same combination of subjects.

Students seeking admission to I Year should apply in the prescribed forms available in college office and attach the following documents to their application.
1. Statement of marks of the immediate lower examination.
2. Transfer Certificate / Leaving Certificate from the Institution last attended, original and two Xerox copies.
3. Caste / Income Certificates in the prescribed forms in cases of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Classes and Fee Concession Claimants. (Three copies)
4. 2 copies of stamp size colour photos are to be enclosed along with the application form at the time of admission for the students taking admission for the first time.
5. Students from other states seeking admission should submit Eligibility Certificate from the Karnatak University at the time of admission.
